Old-Line Shiloh Shepherds + Genetic Diversity Thanks to the foresight of some wise breeders, frozen sperm has been saved from a few of the classic, old-line Shilohs. This offers an incredible opportunity to reach back to the past while bringing only the very best forward. Our Timber was sired by the frozen sperm of the legendary London. London was a second-generation Shiloh Shepherd! He embodied the wonderful Shiloh qualities we so admire today. You can read more about London here: As thrilled as we are that our Shiloh Shepherds have the old lines, we've become equally convinced of the importance of genetic diversity for health. Too much inbreeding can lead to very serious health issues, such as autoimmune diseases. It is our belief that health and temperament should be paramount considerations. Wondering about the genetic health of your Shiloh? We've been pleased with the DNA "Breed + Health" test by Embark. They have partnered with Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, so not only are the results backed by the best veterinary science, they also contribute to future canine health research. It's a fun test too! We found Timber's genetic "cousins," learned his inbreeding coefficient, and even discovered his "wolfiness" score! As any Shiloh person will tell you, once you've had a Shiloh, you'll be hooked for life! The incredible bond that forms cannot be described, but you'll know it immediately when it happens to you! |

ABOUT OUR SITE
This information on our pet Shiloh Shepherds' family trees is shared with pride. We began this website in 2001 when our Ranger was just a puppy and have added to it over the years. If you have a Shiloh Shepherd or are planning to get a Shiloh Shepherd, you may find it interesting and entertaining to trace your Shiloh's lineage too. This information should never be used to assess the suitability of a breeding. These are names only and tell nothing about the genetics involved. Because Shiloh Shepherds are a rare breed still under development, it is especially important to select a good and ethical breeder who openly shares pedigree and health information about a puppy's lineage. Visiting the breeder in person and meeting the breeder's own Shilohs can be very helpful. The information included here is accurate to the best of our knowledge. We hope you enjoy exploring our site!
